Even More Kitchen Chemistry

Today we made Unicorn Noodles!
First we cooked the red cabbage in some water.

The water had turned purple because the anthocyanin (colour pigment) came out of the cabbage while it was cooking.

Next we cooked some clear noodles in the cabbage water and guess what.........? 


The noodles turned purple too! 


We all took turns squeezing lemon juice onto the purple noodles. 





When the lemon juice mixed with the noodles they turned pink! 

We then added some baking soda to the purple noodles and they started to turn blue! 



At the end we added vinegar and those noodles turned violet!
