Water Safety Day

Today at swimming it was Water Safety Day. We had to go in the deep pool so we could practise what to do in deep water.
We learned that if we fall into deep water we need to turn onto our backs like a starfish. Then we will be able to breath and call and wave for help. Even though it was a bit scary everyone had a go jumping in and rolling onto their backs.

Swimming

Today we had our first swimming lesson at Aquagym. It is a bit tricky to tell who is who with swimming caps on!

Maria - the Butterfly Lady!

On Thursday Maria Romero came to school to teach us all about Monarch Butterflies.

She told us about the Life Cycle of the Caterpillar.

Ella explained how to tell the difference between a male and a female butterfly.

We pretended that we were in a chrysalis and we did the butterfly wiggle!

Then we stretched out our wings to dry them like a butterfly does.

Grace put on some wings to demonstrate how the butterfly warms their wings up.

We had an amazing time and learnt so much about the Monarch Butterfly - Thanks Maria 🦋

Science Lesson - Using Evidence

On Friday afternoon we had a science lesson with Carmen.

We did an experiment with cars and our question was "How do you know which car will travel the longest distance?" We had to collect evidence by measuring the distance with our feet. We worked together in groups.

Fun with St Patricks School

Last Friday we had celebrated All Souls Day Mass with St Patrick's School. After lunch we had an afternoon of fun!

Room 2 have been looking at Patterns in Maths this week.  We found lots of patterns around the classroom then we made some for our friends to try and continue.

Please ask your child to make some patterns at home for you to continue!
